the #wardrobebuilder project - Jumpers and Sweaters

So, here is the first wardrobe essential for the 2017 handmade wardrobe- Jumpers and Sweaters. What else could we all be looking to make in the middle of winter, after all those mince pies? I know I definitely feel like having something warm and comfortable to wear and snuggle up in. I am torn a bit between the 'smart' option  (the one where you can go out to lunch with friends and still feel stylish) and the full on comfort option (if I had a log fire this is what I would wear sitting in front of it as I cradle a hot chocolate).

This month's Link Up is at the bottom...share your makes, inspiration and ideas with us. Or add them to the group Pinterest board; the #wardrobebuilder project.

On my wishlist for jumpers and sweaters I really want to make and add to my wardrobe are...

1. Papercut Patterns Bowline Sweater...I love how unusual this top is, but I am worried how it will look on a shorter person like me with all this extra fabric in front.
2. Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater...As soon as I saw this last year all I could think was 'I want it!!!!!'. This is also the Sew My Style January pattern so if you do want to make it sign up to the challenge to get a discount.
3. Seamwork Astoria...One of the many patterns available from Colette, and free with Seamwork subscription. I like the waist length of this, as well as the slightly vintage feel to it. Apparently these patterns take no longer than 3 hours to make.

One of the other key features of this month's wardrobe essential that I'm looking forward to, apart from the comfortable wear at the end, is the fact that practically everything Im looking at can be made out of knit fabric. That, for me, means less trouble altering to fit and less time sewing because knit fabrics don't need to have seams finished.

Fabrics I'm loving right now for this project:

As a beginner

If you are a beginner and this is your first jumper, sweater or knit top I recommend taking this online class by Tilly and the Buttons (there's 30% off until 8 January too which is helpful!).
