7 travel make up essentials to make the most of sunkissed skin

Trying to pack light whilst having products that would make the most of sunkissed skin presented a new challenge for me this year. Instead of packing my whole make up drawer I had a look around for travel friendly products to suit bronzed skin. Using smaller sizes and eyeshadow compacts, and keeping within a rose gold theme, here is what I found to take as my capsule make up collection for whilst I am away and to look awesome when I get back too.

Laura Geller Baked Balance n Brighten Foundation.

In warmer climates I find liquid foundations are too heavy. Normally I wear a mineral powder or this baked foundation (starts life as a cream and ends up as an easy to apply powder). Part of the reason I like this foundation is you can build coverage; a quick once over to even out skin tone after being in the sun all day, or  few more brushes over to create a more heavy duty base. A little goes a long way and it really does make the skin look good in the evenings. This one I managed to get hold of in a travel size (thanks to QVC) and it even fits in my handbag for touch ups along with its tiny brush if it need it on the airplane. To be honest it lasts really well so reapplying isn't an issue.

After creating a flawless even base the contours need to go back in. Enter blusher and bronzer.

Laura Geller Baked True Colour Blush in Bali

A quick brush of this over the foundation base adds a rosy glow that enhances the bronzed look. As this is the same formulation as the foundation it blends really well.

Bare Minerals Warmth powder

Hello cheekbones. This summer contouring tutorials have been all over the magazines and blogs, and I use this for the bare essentials...the Es and 3s across the sides of the face and the hollows of the cheeks. Then another light brush over the areas of the face that naturally catch the sun a bit more (forehead and nose) and voila...bronzed, toned and looking refreshed.

Yves Saint Laurent Full Metal Shadow in Pink Cascade

I love a bit of shimmer on holiday. It's fun and just goes so well with everything (jewellery, clothes, general atmosphere!). This creamy shadow looks good on its own, but I think even better with a neutral base and darker colours for more of an evening look.

Clarins Palette 5 Couleurs in Pretty Day

My new favourite eyeshadow palette. I have been combining this with the Full Metal Shadow on holiday but know this will be used pretty much for the rest of this year as the colours are so versatile. I've used anything between one and all five shades to create varying looks. All the shadows blend really well and look as good four hours on as when they are applied.

Bare Minerals Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss in Starlet

Lipgloss is my go to product for adding instant glamour. Again, another product that looks great on its own or slicked over a similar lipstick for added pop. As my make up palette focuses on the eyes I use more neutral pinks for lips. This gloss smells great as well as having just the right balance of light reflection to do a job without being too ostentatious.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy

Fantastic buildable lipstick with a hint of shine. This again can be built up from a natural look to a stronger shade, depending on day or evening looks. I love the dusky pink hue and it matches really well with the rose gold tones of the face and eyeshadows.

Mascara and Eyeliner

I haven't counted these as I'm picking mine up at the airport! Normally I wouldn't use waterproof products but am planning to give them a go for the next two weeks.

So that is my travel make up bag. It's tiny compared to my usual haul. I think if I was really pushed I would narrow it right down to foundation, eyeshadow palette and lipstick, but luckily I don't have to.
